About Marina :
Marina Grace Lee (she/her), coming from Launceston, TAS, is currently a Melbourne-based theatre performer. At the Victorian College of the Arts, she was awarded the Dr Richard Simmie Prize for excellence and has performed as a featured artist in Morning Melodies at Hamer Hall (dir. Jayde Kirchet), ensemble in ‘Nine’ (dir. Tyran Parke & Ylaria Rogers), and ensemble in ‘Curtains’ (dir. Roger Hodgeman).
Marina is originally from Arizona, USA, where she began dancing at three with the School of Ballet Arizona (SBAZ). She danced 40 hours a week, taking classes in contemporary, jazz, Horton, flamenco, and Martha Graham technique, and was performing with SBAZ and the company, Ballet Arizona (BAZ), in ballets such as Swan Lake, Symphony in III Movements, Sleeping Beauty, and more. She received training scholarships from the English National Ballet School, American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, and SBAZ. From the age of thirteen, she began performing with the professional company Ballet Arizona and continued to dance with the corps de ballet until leaving the US in 2020. In 2023, Marina moved to Melbourne to foster her love of music theatre and began her training at VCA. In her final year at VCA, Marina was grateful to take on the roles of Janet/Dance Captain in ‘The Drowsy Chaperone’ (dir. Alister Smith) and Florinda in ‘Into the Woods’ (dir. Ylaria Rogers).
In March 2022, Marina worked professionally with Mudlark Theatre Company, developing the wonderful new work Girl Running Boy Falling adapted for the stage by Kate Gaul based on the novel by Kate Gordon.
Before Marina’s adventures in Australia, she grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, starting school at Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH), where her love for the stage was ignited. She dabbled in musical theatre at OLPH, performing in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Cinderella: A Ragtime Musical, and Seussical.
